Japanese people and their eternal youth

It's pretty much universal fact, that asian people usually look younger then they're supposed to

well of course not ALL asians, but most :/

but there's a limit to HOW much your appearance can decieve us and take years off your actual age.

and this is where japanese people come in

now i'm not saying that all japanese people look freakishly young, but there are a few individuals i have to point out D:

Shiokari Pass

And it's the first time, in a long time, i successfully read through a book for fun :DD
but it's sad really, i read so much manga i don't spend any time reading anymore T_T

Anyways,
Shiokari Pass is the English version of a Japanese bestseller by Ayako Miura
and like all japanese stuffs it has that sort of japanese-y style and it's pretty relaxing to read
it's wasn't boring enough for me to stop reading it entirely, but it wasn't interesting enough to pull my in and keep my eyes glued to the pages (of course, not until 3/4 into the book 8D)

It's about this dude named Nobuo and it takes place in the Meiji era?
it's when ppl still wear kimono's and stuff but some people wear western-styled clothing and there are trains. yeah.
It's like a biography that highlights the important events that go on in the protaginist's life
like events that bring a change in his character/ personality and change his outlook on life
and it's about christianity (yes joan 8D)
but honestly, this book gave me a better impression on christianity.
Since in this era in Japan, more people believed in Buddism and other asz religion and so most people looked down on christians heavily.
And at first, even the protagonist hated the religion but eventually became a strong follower
i have no idea how to review this damn book without giving away spoilers
so i'll just say this
READ THE BOOK

and kudos to Nobuo
for being so awesome

and if anyone finds another book by ayako miura, lend it to mee :DD

just a warning
the ending is sad
so sad that i could've cried
but there couldn't have been a better ending

More on Sakuma Drops

i forgot to mention in my last post
sakuma drops

delicious

although i wish they sold more flavours in canada :/
since on j-box they have crazy shit like takoyaki flavored sakuma drops
j-box is amazing, no doubt :D

but the one thing that REALLY pisses me off about sakuma drops
is that
those tin containers are damn hard to open D:
i have to use a freaking screwdriver to pop off the lid T_T
so now if i want to eat sakuma drops outside, i'm going to have to carry around a screwdriver

..so now
i have a screwdriver in my hobopurse
cuz i'm just so cool like that

The sound of sakuma drop candies rattling around in their metal container makes me wanna cry

So if you've ever watched 'Grave of the Fireflies', you should know what the hell Sakuma Drops are :D
and like all Studio Ghilbli movies, this one is also directed at children.
it's basically about WWII in japan and specifically, how a boy and his little sister coped with the situation
it's not as fun and exciting as Spirted Away or Howl's Moving Castle but it's...thought-provoking?
i probably wouldn't have been able to finish the movie if i wasn't watching it with a friend >_>''
and my friend say it was pretty boring
but honestly, for me, it was too depressing to be boring T^T

but man, i must be a masochist for buying sakuma drops D:
when i rattle the tin can, i feel like crying
of course i don't actually cry but my eyes get a bit reddish >_>''
